by sombraala

Training your own dog is a very rewarding experience for both the dog and owner. Start with these 3 simple dog obedience training tips and you should start to see great results from your efforts!

1. Patience- always be patient with your dog in your training sessions. Remember you are working with a dog and it may take some time for him to understand the commands you are teaching. If you repeat what ever the training is enough times, your dog will start to learn pretty quickly. The more you work with your dog and his obedience training, the quicker he will pick up on what you are teaching.

2. Always reinforce your training with positive praise. Never scold your dog or strike your dog during a training session. This will make your dog relate a negative experience to his training and could slow down or halt all your obedience training efforts.

Positive praise for what your dog does right is always better that negative reactions for what your dog does wrong. Remember, your dog looks up to you, so don’t look down on him.

3. When you are teaching your dog obedience training, keep each training session short and to the point. A long session will only result in your dog losing focus or getting confused as to what you are teaching. Only train one aspect of obedience at a time for example “stay” or “down”. Give your dog time to master one command before starting to teach another.

Keep these 3 obedience training tips in mind when you are training your dog. Most dogs are very intelligent animals and will enjoy the training. You see, they don’t know they are being trained, to them it’s like they are just interacting with their owner. Keep each session fun and enjoy this time with your dog.

Afterwards maybe throw the frizbee or go to a dog park or just for a walk.

Many dog owners know that training their dogs is very important. A trained dog is better among humans and is more suited to handle the different situations that come its way. When it comes to dog obedience training, it is better if you train your dog yourself than handing him over to a professional.

The experience will be very rewarding both for you and your dog. You can even use the dog obedience training sessions as some sort of a bonding moment between you and your canine companion. After the whole training course, you and your dog will be closer to each other.

If there is one quality that you need to possess when training your dog yourself it is patience. There will be times when your dog will not follow your orders and there will be times when you would feel like shouting at the top of your lungs. Always keep in mind that the dog needs some time to adjust to the training that you are giving him.

Some dog owners also tend to forget that dogs are not humans and they do not respond the same way as humans do.

There will also be times when you think that you are not making progress with your training. In cases like this, you just need to give your dog more time to absorb the lessons that you are giving him.

One of the things that you need to remember about dog obedience training is the importance of giving positive reinforcements. Dogs are creatures who respond well to positive reinforcements. So if he has done something right, you must follow up the lesson with a reward and some words of encouragement. Doing so will definitely speed up the learning process.

Last but not the least, dog obedience training should be fun.

Keep the atmosphere as light as possible.

Does your dog display some rude behaviors? When you notice a lot of it each day, you start thinking of possible ways to eradicate those bad attitudes. Teaching them to learn proper behavior modification and other skills is a good idea. Some prefer dog training collar. Training is a good idea. But letting them learn through the use of collars is the worst thing you can ever do to your pet.

A dog collar is a device being put around the neck of a dog. This material is used for a purpose. Few reasons are fashion and identification. Another explanation of utilizing the collars is a form of training a canine. Others say it is a good idea to train dogs on collars.

However, some individuals who are concern for dogs protest that it is never alright to use the collars as part of teaching. I, as well, am not amenable to this method of teaching. You can always train your dogs on their free state.

One does not need to hurt the poor doggie in order for it to acquire knowledge and skills by your instructions.

A pet, when provided collars by their owners, can acquire some illnesses. Their necks become tightened. Though the usage of this material sounds modern, it can still be considered as a violent old-school way of teaching.

Bear in mind the adverse effects it can create to your canine. Examples of these are sprained necks and transient foreleg paralysis. Collars like choke chains are only advisable to use when the owner wants to get something around the dog’s neck fast to get control. Another thing is if the dog owner does not want it to slip out of.

Dog training collar can harm your dog. Better dump the idea of it. Training with food as a bribe is more logical to do.

In another of our very popular articles on dog obedience training techniques we are going to teach you how to stop your dogs from digging in the garden.

Why dogs dig:

1. Burying bones and finding hem again is very exciting and enjoyable – it is an instant reward similar to the process of positive reinforcement – unfortunately we don’t want this to happen.

2.

A hole in the ground is very cool and a nice place to lie when it is hot in the summer

3. It might be that your dog is pregnant and she digs a small den in the ground so that it is ready for the puppies when they are born.

4. Your pooch may be after moles and rats – another reward when they are caught.

5. Your dog may be copying your behavior

6. Due to separation anxiety – which is discussed below.

* Sometimes dogs and puppies choose to dig and uproot flowers and shrubs in the garden simply because they are bored. It may also be a symptom of separation anxiety – this can be treated through regular exercise and slow exposure to being left alone. There are some home remedies and prescription medications that can also cure this problem. If you think that your pooch is getting anxious when being left alone – start exercising him more and getting him really tired.

Don’t leave the back door open as it will be too tempting for your dog to go and cause trouble outside. If you are unable to supervise your dog place him in a Crate. Leaving toys with an anxious dog and something that has your scent on it can eliminate any digging problems.

* If you think your dog is likely to burrow in the garden – keep a close eye on him and don’t leave him unsupervised.

* Try putting wire mesh in the ground where he is digging as dogs hate the feel of this on there paws and claws.

* Build a sand pit – this is a great diversion technique – bury toys in the sand pit. This is an excellent cure.

* Reward positive behavior and ignore negative behavior.

* Remember that some dog breeds are more prone to digging so think carefully before you purchase your first dog.

We hope you found this article useful and will use some of the techniques that we have provided to cure this problem should you encounter it.

If you have a puppy or a dog, you have to worry about your dog listening to your commands, and even more importantly, you have to worry about how they interact with people and other dogs. Dogs are not born knowing the right and wrong way to act, and it is important that training your dog is one of the first things you think about when you bring a new one into your home. You will be responsible for what your dog does, so it is for your own benefit as well.

You can go to classes designed to help you in training your dog, or you can buy DVDs to help you do it yourself. The most important aspect in training your dog is to teach your dog that you are in charge. Believe it or not, they want you to be in charge. Dogs are pack animals, and they need a leader to know what to do and how to act. If your dog or dogs seem to be out of control, the problem is usually that you are not being a strong leader for them, and they don’t know what to do.

Training your dog doesn’t even have to be that hard, and again, it’s a matter of letting them know who is boss.

This is more than just how you talk to them. It is also about your body language and your tone of voice. You may issue a command you learned with training your dog, but if they don’t believe you mean it, they won’t pay any attention. Dogs need your leadership in much the same way that your children need you to be strong and in charge. Everyone feels more secure when they know someone is taking care of business.

If you are having trouble training your dog, there is no reason why you should keep trying. Go to a different class, or try to find someone to work one on one with your pet. If you have chosen to use a DVD for training your dog, you may be missing something as you go about teaching them what you want them to do and how to act.

If this hasn’t worked, you most definitely should try an obedience class. If nothing is working even after that, you should have your veterinarian look at your dog to see if there is any medical issue that may be causing the problem.

If used properly, dog training collars can be very useful training tools. A dog that barks too much, for example, can be taught to stop by using a collar, called a no bark collar. These will give the dog a slight jolt when he barks. This training method is called positive punishment by some.

The no bark collar uses a 9-volt battery and uses a special mechanism that detects the vibration of barking and gives a jolt. Anything from a very mild electric shock to a high-pitched screech can be used. There also exists a no bark collar that uses a puff of citrus scented spray whenever the dog barks. These are called anti barking spray collars.

Before you go out and buy one of these no bark collars you should first try to find out exactly why your dog is barking so much. There may be an underlying reason such as boredom, fear or something he sees.

Dogs that are shy or scared will tend to bark at everything they see. You may also have trained your dog to bark a lot without realizing it. Some breeds also bark more than others.

Excessive barking can be a real problem. Dogs that stay home all day, barking will annoy the neighbors. It is even worse if you live in an apartment building.

In a perfect world there would be no need for dog collars. Unfortunately, in the real world they are sometimes needed. Many of the most common dog behavior problems can be corrected with collars. Still, before you buy one you should try to correct the underlying causes of the problem.

If you ever presently have a dog which seems rather tough to train then you definitely might be considering purchasing an electronic dog training collar. While the idea of using an electronic collar could possibly be attractive it is essential to know that it truly is merely another way of coaching your puppy. Its not all of dog training, however used appropriately it could possibly offer very good effects when other coaching techniques simply dont appear to work.
When you go to purchase an electronic dog training collar, do bear in mind that you will find many different types which have differences in how they work. The kind that many people are familiar with could be the electronic shock collar, which emits the minimum voltage charge in which has got the puppy attention. There are actually two other types of electric dog collars, one which works by emitting a high pitched sound that the puppy discovers particularly frustrating and also the other choice is really a citronella collar that works by squirting citronella in front of the dogs nose. Puppies usually do not like the smell of citronella. No matter what version you choose each of them work simply by getting your puppies attention and annoying it with an unpleasant way. Dogs, much like humans, will do whatever is essential to avoid all these annoyances even if it means obeying their owner.
Using an electronic dog training shock collar is quite straightforward, however, do remember, its merely a tool to help you get the results you want with your dog. The collar wouldnt train your puppy for you; this is a tool that you simply use to reprimand your puppy when it doesnt follow your instructions. One example is when training your dog to sit and give the command sit, press carefully but strongly on the lower back making your puppy assume the sitting position. You have to do this many times so the puppy knows what you are asking it to do. Simply after demonstrating towards the puppy several times what shes to do with a particular demand would you try and give the command without any human intervention, for example pushing his but down. A dog that catches upon quick and obeys should be praised and rewarded with a treat. When the dog refuses to follow this is the time to use an electronic collar. Right after getting your dogs attention while using collar start over by providing the command and also pushing his hind end down into the sitting position and repeat the entire process over.
Using an electronic puppy training collar is a great replacement for training a hard to train puppy as long as its used for its intended purpose. This kind of dog collar should be used as a training tool that helps modify a dogs behavior. It will never be used as a way to penalize or in any way inflict needless pain on your puppy. Used correctly chances are you will only need to use it moderately and in a short time your puppy may be able to follow your instructions without it.

Let Me Tell… [read more]

Is Your Dog’s Behavior out of Control and Undisciplined? Are You Unsure How to Apply Dog Obedience Training and Stop Them from Destroying Your House? Let Me Tell You What I Did to Solve This Problem.
Why consider dog obedience training

Hello fellow dog owners, my name is Troy, I live in Las Vegas and am a proud owner of a family dog named Layla. We have had Layla for a few years now and she is really a great dog. However that was not always the case. You see back in 2008 I had promised my daughter that if she made improvement in school and raised her grades that we would get a dog. My daughter never had a dog before and I had not had a dog since I was child. Well, you guessed it she improved her grades and we set out to find a family dog.

Now, I am a single father with two young children at home so money is an issue with everything we set out to do.

We had decided that since there was such overpopulation at the local animal shelter that we would adopt a dog rather than buy one from a pet store. We were proud that we able to rescue a dog that may have been put down and we saved money as well. We also got lucky as found what we believe to be an English Pointer. We did not realize that when we were looking at all the dogs at the animal shelter, we just knew she was adorable and my daughter instantly fell in love with her. The lady at the animal shelter suggested considering dog obedience training classes, she said it would cost about $ 75. I figured we would be fine without dog obedience training classes as I had several dogs when I was growing up. We paid the fees and took out new dog Layla home.

How I learned about dog obedience training

Well we quickly realized why it was suggested to have Layla take dog obedience training classes.

In the first week she had chewed up 2 pairs of my shoes, destroyed several of daughter’s stuffed animals and ate the cables to my son’s video game controllers. She also had a very sensitive stomach and many of the dog foods we tried feeding here gave her diarrhea. I was regretting ever agreeing to get a dog, my life just got even more stressful. I figured we needed to follow through with the dog obedience training classes but coming up with an extra $ 75 and driving to the other side of town every week was a bit overwhelming. Now as I mentioned I am a single father with 2 young children, a full time job and volunteer as my kids youth soccer coach. The thought of dishing out more money and driving clear across town with 2 kids, an undisciplined dog all between school, soccer practice and my daughter’s girl scouts meetings was more than I felt I could handle. So, what did I do? I went online and found what I believe to be most complete dog obedience training and dog care method available. Now many dog training products exist but I would like to recommend to you the one that really worked for me. The best part was I did not have to waste my limited time to drive across town in traffic while spending more money than I can afford. I tell you all this because this product simplified my life and I only spent a totally $ 17 and completed the process in my own home. If you can relate to my story then you really need to click on the link below.
